Bayview Village

A low-density, family-first community with a village at its centre

Bayview Village takes its name from the shopping centre that put it on the map in 1963, one of Toronto’s first indoor suburban malls. But the neighbourhood itself is defined by what it is not: no through-grid of busy streets, no high-rise towers, just quiet crescents of single-family homes between Bayview and Leslie.

Our team serves this neighbourhood as part of our Toronto-wide coverage.

Bounded by Highway 401 to the south, Finch Avenue to the north, Bayview Avenue to the west and Leslie Street to the east, it is a low-density, mid-century community of curved streets and mature trees, built for families and held onto by them.

Architecture: The original stock is 1950s and 60s ranch bungalows and two-storey family homes on wide lots; today many have been replaced by custom builds that respect the quiet character of the street.

Lifestyle: The Sheppard subway runs along the southern edge with Leslie and Bessarion stations, the East Don Parkland offers trails and green space to the east, and the shops and restaurants of Bayview Village anchor the community’s retail life.

Notable Features

Parks: East Don Parkland trails along the Don River, minutes east
Schools: Earl Haig Secondary School nearby, with strong elementary options
Transit: Leslie and Bessarion stations on Line 4, with Line 1 minutes away
Dining: Bayview Village’s shops and restaurants are at the heart of the community, with Willowdale’s Yonge Street scene minutes west.
